PSyKo Seven – Nicaragua Robusto
🌍 Origin & Nicaraguan Craftsmanship
- Brand: PSyKo Seven — a distinctive premium cigar line recognized for bold presentation, creative blending and its unmistakable prescription-inspired branding.
- Origin: Nicaragua 🇳🇮, one of the world’s premier sources of full-flavoured premium cigar tobacco.
- 100% Nicaraguan Puro: The Nicaragua Robusto is made entirely from Nicaraguan wrapper, binder and filler tobaccos, allowing smokers to experience a concentrated expression of Nicaraguan terroir.
- Collaboration: Developed as a collaboration between Ventura Cigar Co. and respected Nicaraguan cigarmaker Indiana Ortez.
- Factory: Rolled at Agroindustrial Nicaragüense de Tabacos S.A. in Condega, Nicaragua, a factory owned by the Ortez family.
- Wrapper: Nicaraguan, reportedly from a prized 2007 tobacco crop.
- Special Wrapper Cultivation: The wrapper was grown using the desflorado process, an agricultural method that concentrates the plant’s energy into fewer leaves, encouraging greater strength and character.
- Binder: Nicaraguan
- Filler: Nicaraguan long-filler tobacco
-
Ortez Family Tobacco: According to the original release information, all tobacco in the blend except the wrapper was grown by the Ortez family, giving the cigar a strong connection to its Nicaraguan agricultural roots.
👅 Taste & Flavor Profile
- Opening: Begins with a robust combination of earth, cedar and classic Nicaraguan spice.
- Core Character: Rich Nicaraguan tobacco provides a satisfying foundation of wood, earth and roasted tobacco.
- Nutty Notes: As the cigar develops, expect impressions of pecan and roasted nuts, adding a savory richness to the profile.
- Subtle Sweetness: Hints of natural tobacco sweetness help soften the cigar’s earthier and more pepper-driven components.
- Unexpected Nuance: Cigar Aficionado has identified touches of coconut within the PSyKo Seven Nicaragua blend, providing an unusual creamy-sweet counterpoint to its woody character.
- Woody Complexity: Notes of cedar, hay and toasted wood can weave through the cigar as it progresses.
- Spice: Characteristic Nicaraguan pepper and warm spice build gradually, providing intensity without masking the blend’s more nuanced flavors.
-
Overall Flavor Experience: A bold yet balanced mixture of earth, cedar, nuts, spice, toasted tobacco and subtle sweetness that showcases the depth of premium Nicaraguan leaf.
💨 Smoke Characteristics
- Strength: Generally Medium to Medium-Full, with substantially more intensity than many lighter everyday Robustos.
- Body: Approximately Medium-Full, emphasizing rich Nicaraguan tobacco character while remaining balanced enough to reveal secondary flavors.
- Flavor Intensity: Rich and pronounced, especially in comparison with milder Connecticut-style cigars.
- Smoke Texture: Dense and satisfying, carrying layers of earth, wood, nuts and spice across the palate.
- Strength Development: The puro construction allows the recognizable power of Nicaraguan tobacco to build gradually as the cigar progresses.
- Burn: Well-performing examples deliver a steady burn that allows the cigar’s richer flavors to develop progressively.
- Smoking Time: Approximately 45–60 minutes, depending on smoking pace and conditions.
-
Ideal Occasion: Particularly enjoyable after dinner, alongside coffee or during an evening session when a smoker wants something richer and more assertive than a mild cigar.
